We work individually and as a collective to bring you the best quality coaching, knowledge and expertise to set you up to move with confidence.

David Millea

David Millea

FOUNDER
Dave is co founder of Unit 9. He's been in the fitness industry for 20 years, honing his trade at The Hydro, The Academy, Pure Physio and Lift. When he's not in the gym you might find him putting his groups through their paces up the castle steps in Knaresborough, sprinting on a track or training for the bed race. If you know Dave, you'll know he's quietly confident, mega caring with his clients and generally just a great energy to be around. Dave specialises in run coaching, injury rehabilitation and even coaches olympians with amazing success. Helping others succeed and watching people develop brings Dave a lot of job satisfaction - he is always encouraging of everyone in the gym. Dave is a professional bad influence on a night out and loves roping people into his numerous charity events and fitness challenges. When he's not working (which isn't often) he loves spending time with his close friends and family, often with a champers in hand...
Lyndsay Wells

Lyndsay Wells

FOUNDER
Lyndsay is the other half of your gym mom and pops. With over 20 years of fitness industry experience, like Dave - she's seen all the fads come and go.Having moved around from West Yorkshire to London and finally settling here in Harrogate, Lyndsay has gathered a broad range of coaching experience. From teaching children in stage schools, adult education courses and private classes in some of the best health and fitness clubs in London - she knows how to wear different hats! Lyndsay loves to coach gymnastics for CrossFit and helping people to feel strong and capable. She is a nutrition coach and also qualified to coach you through improving sleep, stress and recovery. Lyndsay has coached many women through the menopause transition. Lyndsay has a passion for helping women to advocate for themselves, feel mentally and physically strong and take up space! Kate I'Anson

Kate is our barbell queen. After moving from Harrogate to London and back again, Kate has acquired a wealth of experience in some of the best gyms and fitness providers in the country. Kate's no nonsense approach to coaching is a winner, especially with her barbell members who have seen immense improvements in their olympic lifting over the last year. Her passionate approach and intuitive guidance of each individual client is lovely to watch.
Cal Goulding

Cal Goulding

Our very own, real lift hero! When he's not fighting fires, you'll find Cal on our timetable. Cal has a background in gymnastics and loves a bit of body building. A technician with a calm approach, Cal is nutrition qualified and loves supporting people of all ages. From prenatal women to our older members, Cal is warm and understanding. As family man with two young children, Cal understands the juggle of parenthood.
Alice Hardy

Alice Hardy

Coach/PT
A local fitness legend, Alice is known for her gazelle like running prowess, community spirit and team player mentality. When Alice isn't looking after our gorgeous gym mascot Bobby, you'll find her competing, fundraising or coaching people towards Hyrox PB's left, right and centre. Alice's work ethic and radiant personality, make her a wonderful addition to our collective. Ever encouraging and positive, expect to feel your best after an hour in her company.
Ben Naughton

Ben Naughton

Coach/PT
Ben is an all round good egg. With years of coaching experience, he works primarily with people of all ages to help them gain confidence in the gym.Ben wants his clients to have the ability to do everything they want outside of the gym, by building long term, sustainable habits that lead to permanent change.Ben believes exercise should enhance our lives and give us options for healthy aging, well into the future.
Miriam Dolben

Miriam Dolben

Our Disney Princess! Miriam's passion for movement started with professional dance training at the renowned London Studios. Following her dance career she developed a love for seeing how much exercise helps people to feel better, mentally and physically. Miriam loves teaching groups and is a master trainer for David Lloyd. Having been in the industry for around 9 years she has developed expertise in conditioning, mobility, body confidence, dance and personal training. Find Miriam teaching in our studio and on the gym floor.

James Knox

Personal Trainer
If he doesn't know it, it's not worth knowing. James is a movement geek (I hope he won't mind us saying!) and a real asset to Unit Nine. With a lifetime of coaching under his belt, James' quiet confidence and nurturing approach is a hit with clients of all ages. James is a personal trainer here at Unit Nine, his focus is helping people to understand what they're doing and why, correcting form before load and helping people towards injury rehab, training for specific goals and countering the impact of his clients busy, professional lives.
Michelle Farnhill

Michelle Farnhill

Coach/PT
Another long time personal trainer and swimming coach extraordinaire. Michelle's reputation proceeds her and her. With over 15 years experience in the fitness industry and 12 as a swim coach, Michelle is a master of bringing the best out in people. Michelle has competed in too many competitions and personal challenges to mention. Happiest outdoors - trail running, swimming, wake boarding, kite surfing - you name it, Michelle is a popular and knowledgeable addition to our timetable but a long term friend to all of us.
Holly Fenton

Holly Fenton

Coach/PT
She might not look old enough but Holly has actually been in the fitness industry for 8 years. Small but mighty, Holly started her career with Nuffield health where she was a popular studio instructor and member of the gym team known for her high energy, tough HIIT sessions. Holy has fallen for Hyrox in recent years and loves a bit of functional fitness. After a stint in Australia, she's back home and joining our team of Personal trainers and coaches.
